If a web newbie needs a webcam that is specifically designed for their notebook, check out the Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks.

It has a spring-loaded clip that clamps to most laptop screens. I found the integrated microphone to be quite good. The microphone performed well in terms of not picking up every sounds. Like the Quickcam Pro 9000, it includes an autofocus Carl Zeiss glass lens for very good image quality and a 2-megapixel image sensor that’s capable of capturing video at resolutions of up to 960 x 720.

The Webcam has a face-tracking feature that keeps your face in the center of the image. This QuickCam Pro did an adequate job in picking up lights.

The installation was quite simple. I had a minor problem of securing Webcam to a laptop. I built my own camera clamp that worked better than theirs. Just like QuickCam Pro 9000, it is not optimized for use with Macs.

I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
